Summit County leaders, citizens celebrate renaming of John Lewis Memorial Bridge in Stow

Akron Municipal Court Magistrate Kani Hightower said the bridge dedication was a sign that her hometown was moving forward.

"It's amazing that the community that I grew up in, where I was one of the few African Americans, has advanced so much in the 30 years since I graduated," she said. "It's become more diverse, and I've seen the community rally around making a difference in terms of diversity, equity and inclusion. I had to be here [today] with my family."
